Movie Trailer Monday: One for the kiddos

One of my favorite things that I do with Curls and Red is to take them to the movies.  I love exposing them to a world that I enjoy so much.  And seeing their faces light up when they love a movie is an added bonus.  Right now they are only really focused on animated films so I am doing my damnedest to expose them to all kinds and not just Disney.

Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese animation director and he is a genius.  His film Spirited Away won best animated feature in 2003 and others like Howl’s Moving Castle and Ponyo are wondrous with their dreamlike stories and characters that are bigger than life.

His newest release is From Up on Poppy Hill.  Miyazaki co-wrote the screenplay and his son directed the film.  It is the story of a group of children trying to save their school’s clubhouse from being torn down.  It is set in the sixties.  Here is the trailer.  If you haven’t been exposed to a Miyazaki movie yet, now is as good as time as any.  Have a great week!
